The Challenge

Off-the-shelf e-commerce systems are built for standard quantity-based products and could not meet the nuanced needs of fabric sales. The store required a tailored solution that could:

  • Allow customers to purchase fabric by fractional quantities (e.g., ¼ yard, ½ yard).
  • Provide accurate color matching and display tools, since textile color variance can significantly affect purchasing decisions.
  • Offer visual fabric layout previews, helping customers understand pattern orientation, repeat size, and fabric scale before purchase.

Legacy solutions the client explored lacked the flexibility or precision to handle fractional inventory tracking and color accuracy, resulting in errors, customer confusion, and lost sales.

The Solution

Tilt Development designed and implemented a custom ASP.NET Core MVC web application backed by a SQL Server database, purpose-built for the fabric industry’s specialized workflows.
